The Building Arizona Families
Domestic Adoption
March 2024 Newsletter
From the Desk of Kelly Rourke, President and CEO
I hope this update finds you and yours doing well! It’s hard to believe that we are almost through the first quarter of 2024! The time just seems to fly by without ever a dull moment!
Over these past years, I have shared a great deal about the courage I witness almost on a daily basis. Just think about it – do you know any little girl who dreams that one day she will be abused and forced into homelessness? Or find herself addicted to numb the pain of life experiences? There just aren’t any. And I don’t know a single one that dreams one day she will have a baby of her own and then place it for adoption. It’s just not what a little girl’s dreams are made of.
Yet, sadly, this is a reality for many of the women we serve at Building Arizona Families. When the harsh realities of pregnancy amid overwhelming life circumstances catch up with them, we receive a phone call, a text message, or an inquiry through our website asking how we can help.
We are so fortunate to have compassionate staff here who passionately believe in the transformational power of love through the adoption process. When our caseworkers come alongside a birth mother who has made the very difficult decision to place her baby for adoption, they don’t come with judgment or through the lens of a mere business transaction. They come with compassion and with the hope of helping the birth mother move forward to physical and emotional health, healing, and a fresh new start in life. We have to earn their trust, and that takes time. Our caseworkers listen, they care, and they do what it takes to facilitate the very best outcomes for the birth mother, the baby, and the adoptive family. It really is a miracle I get to witness every day.
We recently held a video shoot with some of our birth mothers, and next month, I hope to start sharing their touching stories so you can once again see how the transformational power of love through the miracle of adoption changes so many lives. If you want to witness these miracles firsthand, we have numerous volunteer opportunities. You can reach out to our office at 623-936-4729 or e-mail us at [email protected].
I am so grateful that you care about unborn babies, birth mothers, and adoptive families. Your caring means so much to the team at Building Arizona Families. We are grateful for you.
All the best,![]()

Birth Mother Matters in Adoption Season 3, Episode 218: A Difficult First Step
When pregnant women contact us and want to make an adoption plan, we understand that the first meeting can be a very emotional step. Since we are a private adoption agency, we go the extra mile to make our new clients feel as supported as possible. Our adoption office is located in Phoenix, Arizona. We are located off of a major highway, and we take pride that in our office, we have a non-perishable food pantry and a maternity clothing closet. Our goal is to be a resource for women making an adoption plan. Tune in to find out more about how we help make the first step a bit easier.
