If you have been wondering how to adopt a newborn baby, we hope this information about the newborn adoption process is helpful. For starters, Building Arizona Families is a licensed, non-profit adoption agency that has helped hundreds of families across the United States with newborn adoptions. It would be our absolute delight to help you with your dream of newborn adoption.
Who is Eligible to Adopt a Newborn?
The good news is that you don’t have to be wealthy, you don’t have to own a home, and you don’t have to be married. Qualifying to adopt a newborn baby includes a home study to ensure that you can provide a safe, loving, and stable environment for your baby. Building Arizona Families offers home studies for Arizona families, and you can read more about the home study process HERE. Adoptive parents should be at least twenty-one years old, pass a background check, and be financially stable.
How Much Does Newborn Adoption Cost?
The adoption costs are broken down into several parts and are not all due at once. There is the cost of the home study, legal fees, and covering some of the costs related to the needs of the unborn baby and birth mother. Specific cost breakdowns are available HERE. Some wonderful programs offer financing options to help families adopt a newborn. Read more about those resources HERE.
How Do We Get Matched with Our Baby?
Great question! Actually, the birth mother chooses you as the adoptive family she prefers for the baby. She completes a questionnaire detailing what characteristics she prefers for the baby. As the adoptive family, you also complete a newborn adoption form detailing the characteristics you prefer to adopt. It becomes a “matching” process – the birth mother and the adoptive family’s adoption preferences are matched as closely as possible. The matching process ensures that the birth mother feels confident about the family she is placing her baby with. The adoptive family’s preferences are also matched as closely as possible.
