The BAF Domestic Adoption
February 2022 Newsletter
February is the month of love! I hope you are celebrating with your loved ones all around you. As you celebrate, I’m sure you realize how many forms love can come in. Romantic love, parental love, sibling love, friendship love, and the unselfish love given to those we have never met.
Unselfish love is so powerful. Think about the thousands that have given their lives so that we can enjoy the benefits of living in a safe, free society, or firefighters rushing into a blazing building to rescue a stranger.
Now, put yourself in the shoes of a pregnant woman in crisis. She is carrying a baby that she has never met. Perhaps she is homeless, or hopelessly trapped in addiction, or maybe in an abusive relationship. Or all three. Yet, instinctively she begins to think differently, unselfishly about the unborn child she is carrying. She already loves her baby, and wants the baby to have something better than the life she has. She knows that she can’t parent right now, but she also knows that her baby deserves the best she can give. Courageously, unselfishly, she decides to place her baby for adoption, choosing to go through nine months of pregnancy and the pain of childbirth to bring this baby into the world. After she delivers the baby, this unselfish birth mother will hold her baby for a brief time, then place the baby into the arms of people she trusts to give her baby what she is unable to provide.
“In the beginning, the price of giving great love is risking that it won’t be returned. Until you understand, of course, that great love is always returned. With interest.”

Unselfish love is also found in the hearts of the adoptive parents. Many women who are unable to conceive find other means of fulfillment. The unselfish adoptive family is choosing to love someone they have not met. They are embracing the risks inherent in adopting someone else’s child. Perhaps the baby is born addicted, or has biological characteristics that are challenging to manage. This is unselfish love – choosing to love regardless of what the future holds.
I believe that adoption is birthed out of strong, unselfish love. I also believe that birth mothers and adoptive families should be celebrated because unselfish love is just not that easy to find. And, birth mothers and adoptive families alike have discovered the incredible blessings that come from loving unselfishly. Building Arizona Families is committed to walking beside unselfish birth mothers and adoptive families on their loving adoption journeys. We are so blessed to watch the joy that is returned to them through the miracle of adoption. Thank you for celebrating unselfish love with us!
All the best,
